J and I? At a Beer Festival?? Surely not...well, maybe.
Despite taking Boards on Wed & Thu, J and I still had to work on Fri -- no rest for the weary. But luck was on our side; we had 10 no-show patients and got to leave relatively early! Yippee! So we met up with S in downtown Portland for the Holiday Ale Festival. It's an annual festival celebrating -- what else? -- beer! Lots of smaller, little known breweries were showcased, along with their special winter beers.
The place was PACKED. But we waited in line like everyone else because we too wanted to try beers with funny names like "Bad Santa" and "Fanno Creek Dopplebock." Alas, by the time we got up to the front, they were out of the dopplebock... We collectively spent $20 and sampled:
We pretty much chose beers based on the name and how long the lines were. The vanilla one was kinda weird because the taste and smell combo are too confusing for the poor brain to comprehend. Blitzen tasted like there was spearmint or something in it. But the others were pretty good. I'm still not a huge fan of beer, but I'm coming around to enjoying it more and actually tasting the difference between each type. I blame that all on Portland!
